When you are in the midst of holiday house cleaning, do you go from room to room feeling like your home needs even more of a refresh? New pillows, curtains, or area rugs can make your home feel updated and and even cleaner than vacuuming or dusting. And sometimes they’re just worn out and need replacing. That was the case with our kitchen rugs and why, after many months of searching, I purchased new rug runners from The Rug Collective.

Out With The Old Rugs
I was comfortable with with the old rust red and chocolate brown rugs we had in our kitchen. They blended with our cherry cabinets and the pattern hid the dirt – or so I thought. They were now about 10 years old and I didn’t realize how dirty they had actually gotten until I took them out to the trash.

The Search For Navy & Red Rug Runners
For the past year, I’ve been searching for 3 new rug runners. I was really hoping to find 3 matching runners at one of the local big box stores. But to find 3 of the same runners in the exact color and pattern I was hoping for was impossible.
I love navy blue and wanted that to be the primary color to coordinate with the curtains. But after purchasing and returning a few navy blue rug runners, I realized the sole navy blue color and the quality of those rugs were not what nearly up to par.
Luckily when you search for rug runners online, because of cookies settings you will all of a sudden get lots of rug advertisements in your social feeds – which was a good thing because it led me to companies like Ruggable, Tumble, and The Rug Collective.
These three companies all sell washable rugs – which is a great alternative for high traffic area like a kitchen. And they all have beautiful, high-quality rugs; but I finally found the perfect rug at the perfect price at The Rug Collective.

Introducing the Luna rug runner. Luna is described a classic oriental rug with a traditional design. The navy blue and red colors are stunning, intense, deep tones but with a softer vintage appearance. The deep red in the rug is just enough to blend with our cherry kitchen cabinets. And the edges lean more toward grey than beige which ended up blending with our stainless steel appliances.
You can truly see the quality in these area rugs. The stitching around edges is very well done and a nice added detail as is the intricate pattern throughout. I absolutely love this rug!

And did I mention they’re washable?!!! Yes washable! Just toss them in washing machine. This is exactly what a house with kids and pets needs – especially since I was also placing them at our back door and in our main cooking area.
Since these rugs are washable and need to be thin enough to bend in the washing machine, they may not be as thick a rug as you’re used to. But that does not mean they don’t lie flat. As a matter of fact they’re soft enough to lie flat right of the box.
I picked up 1/4-inch felt rug pads at a local rug store cut to size. These added the extra cushion and had a rubber backing to keep the rugs from sliding around. They work perfectly.

By now you’re probably thinking the price of these rug runners would not be affordable, but I got them each for a great price on sale – under $100 each!

I would not hesitate to purchase from The Rug Collective again. Not only are the rugs high quality, I did have to contact their customer service through email and they rectified a small issue to my full satisfaction. Customer service is so important! Thank you to The Rug Collective if you’re reading this.

If you’re wondering about the blue & white abstract rug in the hallway on the right (above), you can find that on Amazon HERE (affiliate link). This is a wool rug that I also love. More on that one in another post.
