Newburyport is a historic seaport town on the north shore of Massachusetts and one of my favorite places to visit. About a 30 minute drive north of Boston, Newburyport is a quinticential New England town with it’s waterfront property, historic homes, and downtown shops and restaurants featuring local craftsman and delicious dining.
Today, I’m so excited to share with you the Annual Newburyport Kitchen Tour. This Saturday, July 29, 2017, from 11:00 am-4:00 pm will be the 17th year the Newburyport Elementary PTO is offering this amazing event. More than 50 volunteers and 10 homeowner families have collaborated to open up these homes for your viewing.
This year’s Kitchen Tour theme, Where Historical Design Meets Modern Amenities, offers a self-guided driving tour featuring one-of-a-kind kitchens in a variety of homes ranging from renovated historic residences to newly constructed waterview dwellings.
The kitchen and family rooms are the heart of a home. It’s where families gather together everyday to cook, eat, talk, work, do homework, play games, and more. That’s why it’s so important that today’s homes function well and with these needs in mind. This kitchen tour is the perfect opportunity for you to view the work of coastal community craftsmen and see how they have seemlessly blended historical design with modern amenities.
In addition, these kitchens will host local treats from Newburyport eateries and one of the kitchens will even host a wine tasting.
This Saturday is the perfect time to visit Newburyport when the kitchen tour event also coincides with the kick-off of Newburyport’s Yankee Homecoming – a city-wide, weekend-long event consisting of a parade, brewfest, river races, fireworks, waterfront concert, shopping featuring local artisans, and more!
Newburyport does it right and offers something for everyone. Yes, families can get out and enjoy the day, but there’s so much more to take in. If you fundraise for a nonprofit, this is the perfect opportunity for you to see how the Newburyport Elementary PTO pulled this event together. If you’re involved in your town’s business or community development efforts, this is an event to model.
Yes, Newburyport just does it right. They are a community of volunteers that coordinates their events to be city-wide. Doing so, benefits the nonprofit, the local businesses, and the residents by creating an immense sense of community and support throughout.
