For the past few years, I’ve attended the Annual Newburyport Kitchen Tour. Saturday, May 11th from 10:00am-3:00pm will be the 22nd year the Newburyport Elementary PTO is offering this amazing city-wide event. Each year, more than 50 volunteers and about 10 homeowner families collaborate to open up these homes for your viewing.
Newburyport, Massachusetts is a historic seaport town on the north shore of Massachusetts and one of my favorite places to visit. About a 30 minute drive north of Boston, Newburyport is a quintessential New England town with it’s waterfront property, historic homes, and walkable downtown with shops and restaurants featuring local craftsman and delicious dining.
The Kitchen Tour is a self-guided driving and walking tour featuring one-of-a-kind kitchens in a variety of homes typically ranging from renovated historic residences to newly constructed waterview dwellings. Every year is different. Every year is spectacular.
The kitchen and family rooms are the heart of a home. It’s where families gather together everyday to cook, eat, talk, work, do homework, play games, and more. That’s why it’s so important that today’s homes function well and with these needs in mind.
But you’ll see more than just he kitchens on this tour. You’ll see entryways, living rooms, dining rooms, mudrooms, and beautifully manicured and decorated porches and backyards.
This kitchen tour is the perfect opportunity for you to view the work of coastal community craftsmen and see how they have seamlessly blended historical design with modern amenities.
You will even receive a booklet that details each home and the designers, architects, and suppliers that created these beautiful kitchens. It’s a fantastic reference book if you’re planning a project of your own.
In addition, the tour includes the Taste of the Port. Some of the kitchens will host local treats from Newburyport eateries.
Saturday May 11th is the perfect time to visit Newburyport . It’s the day before Mother’s Day so gather your mom, your aunts, sisters, sister-in-laws, and friends for a fantastic day out in Newburyport, MA.
Newburyport does it right and offers something for everyone. Yes, families can get out and enjoy the day. There’s so much more to take in.
