Happy Monday! I love Mondays! Monday’s are my most productive day of the week. I wake up early and usually have the beds made, the laundry started, the dishwasher cleaned out, and house vacuumed all by 8:30 in the morning – and all before getting to work!
If you haven’t read my 30-Minute Morning Clean Routine yet, I encourage you to get inspired and check it out.
As soon as the kids are out the door and off to school, I have to make the most of my Mondays. Monday’s set the tone for the entire week.
If I don’t get myself organized first thing Monday morning, it throws off my entire week. Tasks begin to pile up, I begin walking in circles because there’s so much to be done that I can’t focus on completing any one project.
So do yourself a favor, get up early on Monday, pick up the house, and make a list of what you plan to accomplish for the week. Include both home and work-related projects on the list. If you get distracted, stick to the list, even if it’s a task as simple as cleaning out the junk drawer in your kitchen (Oh… I know you have one… everyone does!).
One of the items on my list for this week was to photograph and show you the blonde maple dresser I completed last week.
This dresser actually came to me from a friend. We made a nice furniture swap (a vanity for a dresser) – which by the way is a great way to refresh your home! Email a few friends with a few furniture or home decor pieces you wouldn’t mind trading and see what items they have that you may be able to use.
When I picked up this dresser, I was actually shocked she was getting rid of it. Beautiful, solid maple wood and drawers that slid perfectly smooth. Aaaaaah… can hear the violins and the angels singing? It’s my happy place.
I believe their son wanted a change and they purchased some new furniture so I was the very lucky (and very grateful) recipient of this beautiful maple dresser. The top of the dresser showed some wear and a few of the drawer glides needed to be re-attached, but otherwise it was in almost new condition.
My DeWalt rotary sander very easily cleaned up the top surface, which I sanded down to the bare wood. I also lightly sanded the sides and front of the dresser box.
The drawers were in perfect condition, so they were just washed down. I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser which takes off any scuff marks very easily but leaves the finish intact.
Once the dresser was sanded down, I applied two coats of Minwax clear satin polyacrylic. As you can see, the clear finish blended in perfectly with the factory-finished drawer fronts.
The seven drawers are deep and offer tons of storage.
The insides of the drawers are also in perfect condition.
This blonde beauty of a dresser is for sale in my Shop. I’ve added quite a few dressers to the Shop lately so if you or someone you know is looking for one, please check them out.
Thank you & Enjoy!
Vicki
