Welcome back! Has anyone else been watching movies and doing some online shopping waiting for these winter months to pass? Well, join the club. Here are a few of my favorite finds on Amazon this month. A laptop bag, my favorite black work pants, a blender we use every day, and more.
Has anyone else felt overwhelmed by the political news? I know I have; and yet, I’ve been completely captivated by the process – listening to every bit of news (from all sides) that I can take in and working to decipher it all. As a result, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions.
It’s also put me in a bit of a slump waiting for January to be over. So needless to say, most of the projects I wanted to get done this winter have been put off. I know I should be using these cold winter months to get some indoor painting done. Or, painting the mirrors I have set aside in the basement. Or, working on taxes. Or, even vacuuming the house more often.
But I confess… I’ve been slacking for the past few weeks – watching the news, Netflix movies and snuggling with my puppy. And shopping online.
I’m not a stress shopper by any means. I really only buy necessities. So today I’m sharing a few of my favorite finds from the past month.

Laptop Bag
The strap on my last laptop bag broke. I’ve been carrying it around like a football for the past 2 months. I considered bringing it to our local repair shop where a really nice Italian man works magic on shoes and bags. It was a great bag given to me as a gift, but the tan color wasn’t my favorite and it was really too large for me.
I found this laptop bag on Amazon and absolutely love it! It’s the perfect size (not oversized) for my 13-inch laptop plus wires, papers, and phone. There’s padding inside for the laptop. The straps are strong. The base is flat and the bag stands up when I place it down (even with the laptop inside). And it’s only $35.99 today.
Work Pants
Black slacks can be uncomfortable if you’re wearing them all day at work. And finding the right fit, shape, and length for your body type can be a challenge. Well, I finally found a solution…
Yogipace yoga dress pants! They fit and stretch like yoga pants, but look like black work slacks. They pull on and are flexible like yoga pants, but have belt loops and fake front and rear pockets to make them look like work pants.
Choose Straight Leg, Boot Cut, or Slim Fit. Choose your inseam length. Then take your measurements and choose your size. I found the measurements in the size chart to be accurate (even though I had to order size or two larger than normal).
Tips: The straight leg are my favorite. The bootcut fit large and the legs are wider than I prefer. The fit of the slim cut from the knee to ankle is looser than a legging.
Book: Red Notice
This book is a political thriller. Not my typical read. I usually read business books lately, but I’m a little more than half way through Red Notice and it’s interesting to read something different like this. Over 6,000 five-star reviews on Amazon.
Madam Secretary
We finally signed up for Netflix this Fall. We’re trying to lower our cable bill and trying out other options so we checked out Netflix. They have some really great movies and TV series. The latest one I’m watching is Madam Secretary. It’s excellent. If you don’t have Netflix you can get it on Amazon HERE.
Ninja Master Prep
We use our Ninja Master Prep blender almost every day. We make fresh fruit & vegetable drinks, we chop meat and spices for homemade chicken sausage, and even make Oreo cookie balls in this blender. This does everything a heavy blender does, but it’s lightweight and the pitcher, blades, and cover can be put right in the dishwasher.
L’Oreal Elvive Shampoo & Conditioner
I’m not one to buy really expensive salon brand shampoo and conditioner, but was having a hard time finding a good option at Target – until my daughter tried L’Oreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner and said it made her hair really soft without weighing it down.
She was so right! Most conditioners make my thin hair really flat. But this one left it so soft without weighing it down. My new favorite shampoo and conditioner.
Plastic Storage Bins
These mDesign plastic storage bins were a game changer when it came to keeping my bathroom drawers organized. Each family member has a bathroom drawer and these hold things like their toothbrushes and toothpaste. Instead of having sticking past all over the drawer, these keep things organized and can be easily washed.
Kate Spade Shower Curtain
I’ve been on the lookout for a high quality blue and white shower curtain ever since we painted our master bathroom 3 months ago. It was for our walk-in shower so it doesn’t get wet like it would on if we had a regular bathtub, so I didn’t want to have to hang a separate liner. I just needed something to keep the warm steam in.
This Kate Spade Harbour Stripe shower curtain was perfect. It’s made of a high quality fabric that seems to have a very low lustre sheen or a coating so the water rolls off it (unlike a cotton tshirt that if you sprinkle water, it will immediately soak in. It’s also a high quality fabric that’s very neatly finished on both the front and backside (so many of the curtains I looked at had uneven hems and loose threads on the backside). Highly recommend this one.
I’d love to hear what favorite products you found on Amazon. Share in the comments.
