Long dressers are one of the most versitle type of furniture pieces. You’ve seen them used as media consoles and hallway storage, but one of the less expected uses is that of a sofa table.
So when I came across this long, low, 9-drawer dresser on CraigsList, I snatched it up as fast as I could. It’s made by Hooker Furniture and every drawer slides incredibly smoothly.
The dresser went through quite the transformation. I decided to try CitriStrip to remove the thick, bright yellow paint that covered this dresser. It was a ton of messy work, but the CitriStrip removed the paint well (more on that process later).
I labored over removing the yellow paint from every groove so that I could leave this dresser a rustic, natural color. Although from the photo it looks as if I was able to remove all of the yellow paint, I still couldn’t seem to get every bit of it off which meant the end result would look very messy.
Because I really wanted to bleach wash this dresser and maybe apply a hemp oil to leave it rustic, this dresser sat for weeks in my workshop.
And sat.
And sat.
Then, I visited a friend’s home who had several pieces of black, painted furniture and decided this piece needed to be transformed into a classic black sofa table.
New lion head drawer pulls were purchased for the drawers.
This long black lion head dresser / sofa table / media console is for sale in my Shop.

Long dresser as sofa table is a great idea and serve dual purpose. White long dresser is a beautiful piece of creation.
