Are you a girly girl? Do you love flirty, feminine clothes and furniture? How about pink? Then this pair of Queen Anne style side tables may be the perfect addition to add a pop of color to your home.
Today I felt as though I walked in circles. My creative juices were definitely NOT flowing today. Rather than make myself crazy and risk making bad design choices, I opted to simply finish up some projects that were already in the works – like this pair of Queen Anne side tables I started last week.
Here are the Queen Anne side tables I found while out curbside shopping. “Curbside shopping” or even “porch pickup” sounds so much nicer than “trash picker”, doesn’t it? Just to be clear, I only pick up furniture pieces that are neatly placed on the curb by the original owner so that someone will save it from the trash truck. I consider myself a person that’s helping save the earth by repurposing furniture.
These tables were actually in remarkable condition and could have been used as is; but repurposing and revitalizing furniture is what I do. So… they went pink!
How did I choose pink for these tables?
The first thing I always do is look at the shape of a furniture piece to imagine who the end user will be. In this case, these tables have a very feminine shape so I decided to take that to the extreme with a very girly color.
The original tables were coated in a heavy layer of polyurethane. Sanding them would have been quite a chore, instead I opted for chalk paint. Chalk paint will adhere to just about any surface so no sanding is needed. However, chalk paint is also a very flat, dull finish. Following the three coats of hot pink chalk paint, I applied General Finishes white glaze. This white wash gave the tables the perfect amount of depth.
White glaze gives a colored piece a cloudy shabby chic finish. The glaze sits in the groves and wipes off intentionally unevenly.
This pair of hot pink side tables will make perfect bedside tables or even end tables where you need a pop of color.
These tables are for sale in my Shop.
