We put up our Christmas tree earlier this week. We always get it the day before Thanksgiving and set it up on Thanksgiving morning. It usually remains undecorated for at least a week before my kids finally ask when I’m going to put the lights on it; but I realized this morning as I was staring at my own tree and reading through a blog post on My Scandinavian Home, that I really enjoy the natural, undecorated tree.
I’ve always had a preference for black and white design. Very dark blues, greens, grays, and black contrasted with shades of white. The white canvas allows the darker pieces to really make a minimalistic yet bold statement. That’s probably why I’m so attracted to Scandinavian homes. They’re always bright and airy with just a few key statement pieces. No clutter. No contrasting colors to make my OCD kick in to overdrive. Just the basics. (Or at least that’s the way they appear in the beautiful photos.). You can see how much I love Scandinavian design on my Christmas Decorating Pinterest Board.

Yes, if I can get my family to agree to the minimally-decorated tree this year, it would make me very happy.
