This morning I had to share some inspiration with you so you could get started Spring cleaning, painting & decorating.
This post from Thrifty Decor Chick featured Bre’s home over at Rooms for Rent.
The color scheme she used in her home is stunning.
My husband objected to me painting all of the walls white – the first time I gently mentioned it… give me time. Maybe after seeing Bre’s gorgeous light gray walls he’ll understand the way my brain works.
For today… It’s a gorgeous 70 degree day here in Boston… FINALLY… and I can’t wait to get outside and rake the yard, trim back some bushes, and sweep the sand from the driveway. Yes, it’s actually my idea of a relaxing day.
Once I clear my head, I’ll get back into the workshop to continue sanding and painting. Yesterday I got a head-start on this beast of a dresser. It’s solid wood and so heavy I had to remove all eight drawers just to slide it out of my garage to sand it!
That’s one thing about furniture made in the 70’s, it was still solid wood. It wasn’t until the 80’s that manufactured wood took over.
Anyway, I’m getting a little off-track… day dreaming about what colors I should use on this dresser I’m turning into a long sideboard. I do know the color will definitely be one that highlights the dental work along the top.
I think someone may have dropped this one on it’s corner but it’s nothing I can’t fix with a little wood filler and my DeWalt sander!
I also want to even out the base – it has some rolling scrolls along the bottom that are a little too country for my taste. I’ll cut those back straight and instant modern!
Follow along to see the finished piece in just a few days.
Thank you & Enjoy!
Vicki
