If you’re looking to brighten your home, consider adding a silver accent in an unexpected place. Tin tiles placed on the ceiling or along a backslash will add instant glamor and sparkle to a room and brighten up any dark area. The tin will reflect the light the way a mirror placed on the wall would.
I spotted this tin ceiling as I was walking into a local office building. I couldn’t help but look up because the small amount of light coming in through the door was reflecting off the tiles in the two-story foyer. Instead of being a dark cave, it almost gave the appearance of an open skylight.
The detail on the tiles was beautiful.
A tin style steel ceiling tile from Home Depot runs about $3-4 per square foot. The tin style nickel tiles are even less. Both come in large 2’x2′ or 2’x4′ sections. They are a great option to cover up a popcorn ceiling rather than deal with the labor and mess it would take to remove it.
I’d love to hear from you so feel free to leave a comment.
Thank you & Enjoy!
I love tin ceiling tiles – some of the original patterns are so beautiful. Love your suggestion that they be used to cover a popcorn ceiling! Jan
Thank you Jan. Yes, a much cleaner solution to scraping a popcorn ceiling.
I need some installation advice. Should I install the wood crown molding first or the glue up ceiling tiles. Thanks.
It’s best to speak to a carpenter or contractor about installation.
