Do you have a table with legs that loosen? No matter how many times you flip the table over and tighten the bolts, they still loosen up over time and make the table wobble. I’m going to show you how to fix loose table legs for good and for just 24 cents.
Let’s get straight to the point. The key to fixing a loose table leg for good is a stainless steel split lock washer. Yup! That’s it. This tiny little piece of metal hardware can save you so much frustration.
The bolts of most table legs will be secured with a hex nut (shown on left in photo above) and a standard flat washer. Like any screw with threads, the nut can, over time, come undone as the table is put to use and moves.
The standard washers are one solid round piece of steel. The lock washer has a split seam that tightens and stays locked.
To repair a loose table leg, flip the table over, remove the stainless steel hex nut and any standard flat washers, and add a split lock washer that fits the bolt and then add the hex nut and tighten. Simply measure the width (diameter) of the bolt for the correct split lock washer size.
You can buy split lock washers in bulk on Amazon in bulk HERE. Lowes also sells them individually, most for 24 cents or less each.
That’s all there is to repairing most loose table legs. Easy as pie!
