Thanksgiving is just two months away which means it’s that time of year when I search for holiday items that can be used year-round. It didn’t take me long to find this thrifted table and snatch it up. While my own children are much older now, I know someone will enjoy setting this kids’ Thanksgiving table and make it a special place for their kiddos.
Here’s how the the table looked when I brought it home. It wasn’t in too bad shape, but really wanted to give it a richer finish in a much deeper tone.
Sanding it down with my DeWalt rotary sander revealed the beautiful solid wood.
From there it was as simple as wiping on two coats of Minwax English Chestnut stain. I absolutely love this color stain for kids’ tables. You can see how I used it on THIS Kids’s Thanksgiving Day farm table that was refinished this time last year.
The coat of oil-based satin polyurethane is the best protection you can get so it’s going to stand up to not just Thanksgiving dinner, but every type of craft the kids can throw at it later on.
And so the kids’ feel extra-special, I’ve made these two drop-cloth table runners just as they might see on the adult table.
Drop cloths are an inexpensive yet very durable fabric that I use for all kinds of projects – table runners, chair covers, and even curtain panels. I purchase mine at Lowes, but you can find similar ones HERE.
You could even use these table runners as a craft themselves and let this kids draw on their own Thanksgiving Day design on them.
This Kids’ Thanksgiving Day table and table runners are now available for sale as a set in Entri Ways’ online Shop.

Wonderful table for kids or anybody. Would be a good size for Mr.Furry and I since we don’t have a dining area in our single wide mfg. home. When we moved here was quite a surprise to find out how much more expensive it was for property than where we lived in KY. I still miss our wonderful house there and we’ve lived in CO since 2004.
But this is what we can afford and where we’ll live for rest of our lives I imagine. We do have 1/2 acre with wonderful views so it’s not all so bad.
You did beautiful job redoing that table and the table runners look lovely. I too use drop cloths for projects like table runners, pillow covers and ? Thinking about making some curtains with that fabric, nice and sturdy, can stencil it or put some ribbon or other trim on panels.
Have wonderful and enjoyable Fall season.

Wow, you’ve got that table looking gorgeous now! And you did it all with sanding, stain, and wax? Beautiful refinish job! I used to enjoy refinishing…a lot of messy work, but the rewards are worth it! Shared on G+

Thank you Florence. A little freshening up with a new color does wonders doesn’t it? The final coat is actually polyurethane. I wanted it to be able to take whatever the kids threw at it. 🙂
