Ever since I completed the three-drawer mid-century modern dresser, I’ve been anxious to get my hands on another one and do a similar design. Last week, my wish came true and I was able to refinish an MCM triple dresser.
I picked this one up on Craiglist. The owner was so cute. She couldn’t believe how much I loved it. To her it was a 50-year old dresser that was missing handles; but I saw the potential.
The entire dresser was sanded down and then stained a custom dark stain made up of Varathane Expresso with a touch of Minwax Ebony.
I then taped off the area to be painted, primed it with two coats of BIN primer to prevent bleed-through of the dark color, and then painted on two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance white semi-gloss.
The result was a gorgeous contrast of dark and light color.
The supposedly missing handles were actually inside the drawers.
I just love the handles and wouldn’t dare change them. They’re so original.
The wood is most likely walnut. It has a beautiful grain to it.
I’m secretly hoping this one doesn’t sell so I can put it in my living room; but I figure I better at least try to pay the bills this month.
This mid-century modern triple dresser is for sale in my Shop.
