If the mid-century modern triple dresser makeover I revealed last week had a sister, it would be this tall MCM two-tone dresser I finished up this week.
Apparently I’m going through a mid-century neutral phase. I actually received an email yesterday asking if I could include a color photo of a dresser.
Ok, I get the hint.
My latest pieces may not be colorful, but they’re certainly dramatic… don’t you think?
The dark stain and contrasting bright white make a statement in a room. And, since they’re neutral colors, they would go with most any decor.
This solid wood dresser was sanded down with my DeWalt rotary sander then stained with a custom mix of Varathane Expresso and Minwax Ebony.
I then taped off the area to be painted, primed it with two coats of BIN primer to prevent bleed-through of the dark color, and then painted on two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance white semi-gloss.
The hardware is original. Older dresser have the most unique hardware. I wouldn’t dare replace them.
This tall MCM two-tone dresser is for sale in my Shop.
