All we have to do is look around us for color inspiration for our homes. The outdoors is exactly what inspired this modern, orange console table.
We’re half-way through Fall and the leaves are displaying bright oranges, reds, and yellows. If you’ve never visited New England during peak foliage season it’s definitely worth the weekend trip. Absolutely gorgeous everywhere you turn!
These colorful leaves are exactly what inspired me to pick up a $5.00 mis-tint of bright orange paint a few weeks ago. Whenever I see Benjamin Moore Advance paint on the mis-tint shelf, I grab it if it’s remotely close to a color I might use. I actually liked this orange and at first was thinking I’d paint a few fall decorations. Then I came across this rather plain console table.
It wasn’t until I was almost finished sanding it down and flipped it over that I realized it was made by Lane Furniture. My very plain table just became a very well-made, quality piece of furniture that was destined to become a piece of art!
I hand-brushed on three coats of the Benjamin Moore Advance satin over primer. The result… a statement piece for an entryway, sofa table, or believe it or not a bench. Yes, a bench. This piece is actually perfect bench height for my daughter and son who are both 5′-9″. This table is actually strong and sturdy enough to be a bench. It’s very solid.
Imagine this modern, orange table / bench with a few storage baskets underneath and you’ve just added the perfect welcoming piece in your otherwise plain entryway.
Of course, I used Tape to ensure I end up with crisp, white lines.
There’s just enough of a lip on the top to add a foam seat if you’d like to use it as a bench. Or, use it as is and that works too.
This modern, orange console table (or bench) made by Lane Furniture and custom-painted by me, is for sale in my Shop.

You did a very nice job with this piece. I like the original lines, and you’ve transformed it in just a few steps. The white stripes and dashes on the top give it energy. I saw your link at Suzanne’s Painted Drawer link party.

Thank you so much. It was a fun piece to work on. Since it had such straight lines I could do just about anything I dreamed up.
