What a busy week. Everywhere I turned, I was finding great pieces of furniture. Stay tuned – I’ll post those later this weekend. Today, I’d like to share one of the pieces I completed this week. This small TV table had seen better days when I found it. The brown paint was chipped and it was covered in stickers. On the up side, it was solid, very sturdy, had good lines, the drawer boxes were together, and the drawer hardware was still attached – all signs of a good find for a makeover!
Here’s the finished product in cobalt blue.
I chose blue mainly because I got a gallon of “ooops” paint at my local Lowes Home Improvement Center for only $5.00. Ooops paint are the mis-tints that they mark down considerably just to get rid of them. The same day I also got a gallon of red for only $2.00. Such a bargain.
Here’s how I found this table. It looked very tired and worn out. You can tell from all of the stickers (both inside & out) that it was well-loved by some little ones.
My Dewalt electric sander took those stickers right off and left me with a smooth surface for painting.
I was able to remove enough of the brown paint so that it didn’t need to be prime separately. The latex cobalt blue paint had a primer built in so it covered very nicely. The result…
My son liked it so much, he immediately claimed it for his gaming TV.
