My husband and I started making homemade wine last year. We took a wine making class and purchased the supplies that would allow us to make six gallons of wine at a time. I love Chianti wine and it's actually been incredibly convenient having the bottles on hand, especially during the holidays when you need so many gifts. The only problem is that I have to find a place to store the large plastic bucket and six gallon glass jug.
The bucket and jug have been just sitting by my front entryway ...

Team Colors
Yesterday I posted a tutorial on how to make a wood bench. Today… the reveal of those benches painted in team colors.
With much help from my husband, we made four wood benches from scratch.
We were able to complete the build in one day and I've spent the past week prepping, sanding, and painting.
The prep work for any project is the the most important step. Take the time to fill any holes with wood filler, let it dry overnight, and then sand down the excess. Since we used raw wood, I ...

How to Make a Wood Bench
About a month back I showed you an old carpenter's bench that I painted navy blue & white. A client saw it and asked if I'd make some benches. Always up for a good project, I got to work on making four 8-foot long wooden benches. Here's a tutorial on how to make these sturdy benches...
Materials:
1 12-foot long 2"x10" pine plank (bench top & legs)
2 8-foot long 2"x4" pine stud (supports)

Lazy Stuffed Peppers
Do your weekends drive your adrenaline up? My adrenaline runs so incredibly high on the weekends; not because I'm running and rushing, but because I'm building, painting, creating, and spending time searching for old items I can bring back to life. Yes, I work hard and am completely exhausted by the time Sunday evening rolls around, but I don't see it that way. To me, it's FUN! It's EXHILERATING! It's RELAXING!
This weekend was no different. I spent the weekend building some wood benches ...

White & Gold Cabinets With Asian Hardware
It's been nice not to have have to trudge through the eight feet of snow we've had in the past few weeks to find my last three furniture makeover projects; instead they've come to me. Two dressers were offered to me from clients I delivered finished pieces to and a local contractor removed these Asian-inspired built-in cabinets from his renovation as the new owner opted to move away from the 1960's shag-carpeted, disco, Asian decor. Whewww! That's a mouthful and quite of mix of styles don't ...

Coastal Blue Dresser With Eagle Brass
The latest post about this Coastal Blue Dresser with Eagle Brass was accidentally deleted, so I'm reposting.
A client was picking up the white antique buffet that I refinished this past Fall and asked if I would like this dresser that was in her garage. Would I like it? Of course I would!
Here's what the unfinished dresser looked like when I brought it home. That one drawer wouldn't completely close - an easy fix - but otherwise it was in great (old) condition.
Thank you to Suzanne over ...

How to Clean Brass Without Harsh Chemicals
Earlier this week I revealed the Coastal Blue Dresser with brass hardware. When I received the dresser the drawer pulls were a very dark brown. A little elbow grease, however, brought out the beautiful gold of the brass underneath.
Here's how the drawer pulls looked before...
and here they are after...
I like to avoid harsh chemicals whenever possible. I used two methods to clean this brass. Both worked well individually. In combination, they worked even ...

Tin Ceiling Tiles Reflect Light & Brighten a Room
If you're looking to brighten your home, consider adding a silver accent in an unexpected place. Tin tiles placed on the ceiling or along a backslash will add instant glamor and sparkle to a room and brighten up any dark area. The tin will reflect the light the way a mirror placed on the wall would.
I spotted this tin ceiling as I was walking into a local office building. I couldn't help but look up because the small amount of light coming in through the door was reflecting off the tiles in ...
